Conquering the Multi-Kilowatt Source/Sink Test Challenge

Satellites, hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), uninterruptable power supplies (UPSs), alternate energy power sources, and several other modern power systems rely on bidirectional and regenerative energy systems and devices. Many of these bidirectional energy systems and devices operate at multi-kilowatt power levels. Accordingly, the development and manufacturing of these systems and devices dictate having the ability to source-sink at kilowatt and higher power levels, which is a formidable challenge for test engineers.

The most common approach is to use a separate DC source and electronic load for sourcing and sinking.
