Radar and electronic warfare (EW) system characterization can be a daunting task because of the many modes these systems employ. Varying pulse widths, repetition intervals, modulation formats and frequency agility are just some of the signal parameters that must be validated prior to weapon system deployment. Especially important are timing relationships during threat-response interactions. It is critical for the system engineer to not only precisely measure the time it takes for a radar warning receiver to recognize a possible threat, but also how long it takes the system to generate an appropriate response.
